Current status: You can catch DJ Fife spinning all the latest hip-hop, rap and R&B cuts and some old-school music every now and then at Plush Nightclubs on Saturdays. You may hear him on Sunday nights soon as Plush plans to make Sundays hip-hop night. He says that being versatile is the key to pleasing the crowd, even if it means playing a song or two that the crowd isn't requesting. "Being a DJ, you gotta play what people want to hear, but as a DJ you have to mix it up, too," he says.

RIYL: Hip hop and R&B. DJ Fife Spins mostly new music but also, some old-school songs among the hip-hop and R&B community. A few of his favorite R&B artists include Usher, Common, Ne-Yo, Corinne Bailey Rae and old-school artists.

Influences

DJ Fife says that growing up, his first favorite DJ was Funk Master Flex. Later, he was influenced by DJ Jazzy Jeff and the late great Jam Master Jay of Run DMC. Some other influences include: Jay-Z, Biggie, Little Brother, Kanye West and Common. The DJ is a self-proclaimed "Swizz Beats man." He was also influenced by East Coast rappers and and those from the MidWest, too.
