Long Description: Kevin F. Kern will discuss how the Ohio and Erie Canal fundamentally changed Ohio through its role in three interlocking “revolutions”: The Market Revolution; the Transportation Revolution; and the Industrial Revolution. Kern is an Associate Professor of History at the University of Akron. He specializes in Ohio history and late 19th/early 20th century U.S. social and intellectual history. He is co-author of the forthcoming “Ohio: A History of the Buckeye State.” Dr. Kern is co-founder and co-editor of the “Northeast Ohio Journal of History.”
