Long Description: Lindsey Fisher, who created an exhibit on the connection between Coalwood, WV and Youngstown, OH and life in a company town, will present this lecture about coal mining and “Rocket Boys.” Her talk will focus on the environmental effects of coal mining, with a focus on Pennsylvania and Ohio coal towns, as well as a discussion on life in a company town, the world of the “Rocket Boys,” and the lasting effects of their scientific achievements. Fisher currently works at the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor in Youngstown. A limited number of free passes for future admission to the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor will be given out at the lecture.
