Long Description: Whatever writing we engage in – memoir, poetry, or fiction – specific, sensory detail will make the writing more meaningful. Remember your grandmother’s forced forsythia, the scent of her lilacs, the way she told you “…buy hyacinths to feed the soul”? Think about the deep stain of berries on your teeth after pie. Or the exuberance of dandelions, beckoning the pollinators. Have you ever traveled through Texas when the bluebonnets are blooming? Or the desert in blossom after rain? Join writer Karen Schubert in this five-week workshop that incorporates the details of plants into your own writing. Please dress for outdoor exploration, as we will be outside in the Gardens as much as possible. Deadline for workshop is 4/8. $60; FFRG $55
