1,2,3 - The YSU Dance Ensemble will open the three-day run of their 17th annual performance under the direction of Christine Cobb in the Ford Theater in Bliss Hall

2 - Mr. Smalls Funhouse in Pittsburgh will host Jersey punkers Bouncing Souls with Gaslight Anthem and Tim Barry.

2 - The stage version of “The Full Monty” will open a three-weekend run at the Oakland Center for the Arts. Valley24.com blogger Robert Dennick Joki is directing the musical comedy about blue-collar boys who turn to stripping to support their families.

2 - Classic musical comedy “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” opens at Trumbull New Theater.

3 - The Zou’s Nouveau Rock Festival at Cedars will feature the Realtime Digimob, Deadbeat Poets, Posture Coach, Third Class, The Devotees, The Sewing Machine War,

3 - The Cleveland Orchestra Chorus, under the direction of Robert Puco, will Beethoven’s famous “Ode to Joy” Ninth Symphony at the DeYor Performing Arts Center. The show starts at 8 p.m.

9 - Give up the funk. No really, do it. George Clinton is going to play the Chevrolet Centre and it’s best for everyone if you give up the funk and go.

10 - “Milk + sugar = sweet milk.” Sweet Delights at Cedars.

10 - Make a batch of Syrup - Southern rapper Lil Wayne is slated to perform his re-scheduled performance at the Chevrolet Centre.

10 - Sarah Burgess (yes, the American Idol girl) will perform at the Boardman Park Festival. The family-friendly event will also include a performance by the Ballet Western Reserve and a late-evening showing of “High School Musical II.”

15 - Phil Keaggy will play E.J. Thomas Hall in Akron as part of his tour of “The Master and The Musician: 30 Years Later.” Tickets range from $25 to $35.

16 - Local indie rock goes down at Cedars with Third Class, Steve Boyle and Modern Life.

16 - It’s Red Wanting Zou at The Cellar! The Zou will open for Red Wanting Blue with Gypsy Lane, Cease to Exist and Jordan River Band slated to open.

23 - “Titanic: A New Musical” opens at the Youngstown Playhouse and will run until June 14.

24 - Third Arm Promotions presents Noetic, Sotaro, Six Shots Left and Something to Shelter at The Cellar.

24 - It’s a Joe Shelby birfday party at Cedars with a performance of Superbird.

25 - A great night of music as The Kellys, Acoustic Juggernaut, Grey Dealer and Mr. Kyle take the stage at Salty Grogs for the Third Arm Promotions Pre-Memorial Day Bash.

27 - I can’t say I’ve thought of a better show. It’s GWAR with Gil Mantera’s Party Dream at Mr. Smalls Funhouse in Pittsburgh.

30,31 - If you care, you already know. Dave Matthews Band at Post Gazette Pavilion in Pittsburgh.

31 - LiveNation presents Eric Clapton at Blossom Music Center in Cleveland. Show starts at 7. It’s part of a limited tour to follow up his autobiography, and a rare chance to see him in the Midwest.

31 - JonesFest with the Jahman Brahman Family Band, The Youngstonians, The Devotees, Wild Trees, Braille, Twelve Bucks, Melva, Winslow, Mystic WIP Hustler, The Zou, Captain Braskey, 5 Elements and Jones for Revival.
