
YOUNGSTOWN - The City of Youngstown has announced another dash, an event that brings hundreds of people to the restaurants and bars of downtown Youngstown.
The Independence Day Dash will begin Saturday, July 3 at 5 p.m. with registration in Central Square at the intersection of Federal Street and Wick Avenue.
The first 300 people who return to the square at 9 p.m. with a sticker/signature from five of the following locations will receive a free T-Shirt:
Rudy and The Professionals will be performing during the dash at the Rosetta Stone.
The Lemon Grove Café and Cedars Lounge will also be participating. Bob's Country Bunker will be reuniting at the Lemon Grove, with a 10 p.m. performance. At Cedars Lounge, local bands Pictora, Modern Life, Gossip Culture, Eternity Zone and GFF of Hot Knees will perform.
Proceeds from the Independence Day Dash will benefit the Youngstown Arts and Entertainment Association, an organization that promotes downtown Youngstown. The group had previously disbanded, but there has been a recent effort to bring the group back to life.
Saturday is also be the Café Cimmentro Street Festival on E. Boardman Street, which will also begin at 6 p.m. Bands, including Ceo C and Tha Storm, and performers, including Julius Veal, will perform.
At the Love Lounge, 15 W. Federal Street, there will be a Pre-4th-of-July Party with author and Youngstown native, Tysha. It'll be hosted by TLuv and Mike Forney of the Hot Topix Book Club.
The evening downtown will conclude with a fireworks display around 9:30 p.m.
Elsewhere Saturday, Andy the Piano Man will perform Saturday at O'Donolds in Austintown and 3AP presents a July 3rd Bander with 5 Elements, Sugar Bear and Captain Braskey. In Liberty, Todd Kaden will play acoustic at Shakers, 4520 Belmont Ave., starting at 6 p.m. with no cover charge.
In Warren, Rudy and The Professionals are scheduled to perform at the Warren Community Amphitheatre as an opening act for Fints to the Left, a Jimmy Buffet tribute band.
