The ColorBurst 5K paint run will return to Niles on Saturday.
Now in its second year, the family-friendly race, in which participants are splashed with paint, will begin at Eastwood Field at 9 a.m.
ColorBurst is known for its fun atmosphere. At several intervals along the course, participants are blasted with a nontoxic, hypoallergenic, water-based paint from the sidelines. Aside from this twist on the standard 5K, guests will be treated to a party before and after the race at the CB5K stage with DJs, MCs, giveaways and family fun. As a bonus, participants will be given free entry to the Mahoning Valley Scrappers game Saturday night.
“Last year’s event was such an overwhelming success,” said ColorBurst officer Michael Silver. “The community really showed up, which was truly amazing, and we are very excited to be coming back to Niles. This year’s event is poised to be even bigger and better as we continue to grow this annual tradition.”
Blending color, music and good vibes against the backdrop of a 5K run, the ColorBurst 5K offers an event suitable for the whole family. Whether participants walk, jog or run, it’s a fun way to exercise.
Race registration is open atcolorburst5k.com. The fee is $32.99 today, and $35 Friday and Saturday. Each registration includes a free CB5K T-shirt, headband and a personalized bottle of paint to use on event day. As part of its commitment to making this run a family affair, ColorBurst 5K and the Mahoning Valley Scrappers will offer free entry to children age 12 and under when accompanied by a registered adult. A portion of the profits from this event will be donated to Akron’s Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley.
The 5K is a rain or shine event. Runners are encouraged to show up early for the pre-party, and the run begins at 9 a.m.
