Josh Davidson will let his inner beast out when Marvel Universe Live comes to Covelli Centre this weekend.

Davidson has been with the Marvel Universe Live tour for three years – practically since it started.
To play the bombastic green behemoth, Davidson suits up and let’s the Hulk take over.
“I release the beast,” he said in a phone interview. “I use everything that’s going on and go with the character.”
As the Hulk, Davidson is on stage for the majority of the show.
He describes Marvel Universe Live as spectacular.
“There are motorcycle stunts and tons of pyro,” he said. “Each scene is nonstop action with martial arts and stunt choreography.”
The show, he said, has wide appeal.
“There is a superhero in all of us, and everyone enjoys action movies,” said Davidson. “In this show, the action is on stage, like a movie coming to life, and there is so much jam packed into the show that it’s hard to imagine.”
At one hour and 45 minutes, the show is roughly the length of a movie (it includes a short intermission), and audience members often find themselves craving more, said Davidson.
The plot of Marvel Universe Live revolves around the scheming Nebula, who teams up with the villains Loki and Green Goblin in a plot to control the universe.
Doctor Strange marshals the combined forces of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Iron Man, Thor, Black Panther, Hawkeye, the Wasp, Captain America, Black Widow and the Hulk to save the day.
Davidson said he has always been a fan of the Hulk, adding “Getting to portray the character is awe inspiring.”
He played Hawkeye when he first joined Marvel Universe Live and finds both characters to his liking, citing their range of humanity.
The Hulk, of course, is the primal alter-ego of mild-mannered scientist Bruce Banner, while Hawkeye is a normal man with amazing archery skills.
Davidson’s path to Marvel Universe Live began when he started in gymnastics as a youth. He continued the sport in college and then went to stunt school, eventually auditioning for the role of Hawkeye.
Beneath the stunts, Marvel Universe Live is also a theatrical show, which means the cast are actors.
That’s something new to Davidson.
“I was always into rock climbing and active sports, and this is my first introduction into the world of theater,” he said. “It’s been a crazy wild ride.”
