A double bill of music, featuring Nashville artist Woody Pines (above) and Valley-based folk-Americana artist Demos Papadimas and his band will take place Friday at 9 p.m. at Suzie’s Dogs and Drafts, 32 N. Phelps St., in downtown Youngstown. Pines, who cut his teeth as a street busker, draws his influences from American roots music – from jugband to country blues to Appalachian. He injects catchy rhythms, jumpy lyrics and a delirious sense of fun. Pines classifies his tunes as “hillbilly boogie,” the Southern dance hall sound that peaked just before the dawn of rock ’n’ roll. He released his self-titled debut album last May.
