Beef IIII: What happens in Youngstown

Hulk Hogan vs. The Ultimate warrior, The Browns vs. Steelers, and Jay-Z vs. Nas are all famous rivalries. The lengths in which one side would try and out due the other, is what legends are made out of. The Youngstown area has it’s own types of rivalries. While they may not be legendary, well thought out, or even that interesting, the rivalries do contain enough value to be posted on a Valley 24 blog. I will be talking about 3 recent rivalries, and the perceived winners and losers of each one.

The Boondox vs. The Replacement Killaz.

Almost a year ago, The Replacement Killaz were the opening act for The Boondox shows . It seemed to be a match made in Y-Town Hip-Hop Heaven , but that soon changed. During one of the shows either someone didn’t get paid, someone said something, or Troy did something very caucasian, and The Replacement Killers got very pissed. The group ended up releasing a Myspace song entitled Who The Hell Are The Boondox. The song actually had a catchy hook that went, “Who the hell are the Boondox/ Yeah you got a black guy but he‘s whiter than tube socks.” I don’t remember many of the other lyrics to the song, but they did cover how white Troy was, how they would beat the Boondox up, and they even mentioned me (they called me a fruit cake, lol). The Boondox replied to this song by not booking The Killaz to open for them anymore. By doing this they ended The Replacement Killaz career, that mostly consisted of opening for The Boondox.

Winner: Boondox

                                           Bob Mackey Vs. Rukus

Now, I know the possibility of this entry getting 1,293,709,234 comments of face melting , by covering this. I also know that I maybe in danger of having my back photographed and uploaded to photo bucket, but that’s one risk I’ll have to deal with.

So, a few months back The Ruckus crew had an interview about how cool their internet radio station was. And like most times when people try to prove something is cool, Teem Ruckus said some really lame things. These things were so lame Bob Mackey ended up giving them the 2007 Lamey Award. What followed may have been the most hilarious flame war in Youngstown internet history. It mostly consisted of The Rukus squad being lame/creepy, and Bob making fun of their grammar. My favorite part of this was when The Rukus Boys ran into Bob at Cedars. They asked Bob a question, and he turned his back. The quick thinking by one of the Ruckus staff, lead them to reach for a camera and take a picture… OF BOB MACKEY’S BACK!!!!! You may be questioning my use of exclamation points, and caps. I really have no explanation, except the fact that this was a big deal for the peeps over at Ruckus. Apparently the picture was photographic evidence that Mr. Mackey was, “pwned.” See for your self:

I personally like my rendering of that picture.

The best part about this feud is that it’s still not over. Something may happen on Valley 24, and the new chapter of this will be born.

Winner: Blog Readers

                                Trevor Quillan Vs., Jimmy Decapua

Beef isn’t just reserved for rappers, bloggers and pod casters. Now ladies and gents we have hippies beefing. Here is a message that was sent to certain people on Myspace, by Trevor Quillan .

“I sent out a bulletin earlier about Red Shirts being worn on Friday... and i received nothing but genuinely positive feedback... except for one message... this one shocked me...

front man for a local "hippie jam band" Jones For Revival, Jimmy Decapua (the one who wears the "college" t-shirt, has a big old beard, and plays for a dozen tie-dyed hippies) this was his statement

"f*ck that sh*t dude f*ck the war of terror i hope i see someone wearing a red shirt i may spit on it. I dont support our troops sorry this isnt anything against you t q i just f*cking hate soldier boys"

CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS???? I feel as if i have been sold a lie by Jones For Revival and Jimmy D.

I think that Jim has Finally SMOKED himself STUPID!!!
LAY OFF THE WEED PAL!!!!”

Actually, after re-reading that, I have come to the conclusion, I really don’t care that much about this. Therefore, I will not crown a winner or a loser. I will just end this entry by giving you some of the greatest rivalries ever caught on tape, The Iron Mic Battles!

we truly learned the tragic repercussions of substance abuse, hometown pride, and writing maudlin songs about dead soliders to get laid

sad part is that comment works in all 3 cases...

Damn.... you guys actually made me come out of retirement. The sad part is, substance abuse is blown way out of proportion, and hometown pride is almost not-existant. The even sadder thing is, Goo was the first post on HIS OWN BLOG! The saddest part? There's no real winner in any of this, but there is a decided loser, all the people subjugated to your pitiful brand of entertainment, the readers.

Goo, get a life.

Mackie, get a clue.

Take a page (pun intended) from Dennick's blogs, keep them amusing....intelligence wouldn't hurt either.

The decided loser is the person that puts enough stalk in valley 24 to have a "retirement."

i just got published nationally so i think i already won?

Being published nationally isn't all what it's cracked up to be. Ciara howls and she is a signed artist; Lil' Wayne sips syrup and isn't bigger than my 12 year old and he sold a mill records; Lucky Penny left Youngstown to be signed and guess who is doing Youngstown's radio again. So mr. makey, don't get so high up on your imaginary horse. You want to know what's real beef: gas prices, terrorism, starving children because food costs too much, the mafia still running this place, this town being racially divided since it's 'discovery'. You want to know what real beef is, watch what's going on in the world. Now that's beef!!!! Yes, I am a Debbie Downer. Don't hate me for pointing out the world's flaws. Now, have a great week. To those of you who deserve it anyway.

oh dear sweet jesus ... the blinding irrelevance of everything virgoluv just said made my eyes melt like it was the ark of the covenant.

* mackey isnt a rapper, hes a writer.
* like all other journalists, he doesnt expect to many any money, but rather to be respected by peers and widely read.
* lucky penny is probably doing the radio show because he wants to, not because he needs to.
* society's ills have little to do with mackey's article in electronic gaming monthly, which your 12 year old probably reads if he plays grand theft auto at all, which he probably does even though 12 year olds shouldn't because it's incredibly violent.
* since he is in the print media business, im pretty sure he and everyone else on these boards already know about the oil and war and racism and all that. since you seem to never leave a one-mile radius of your house, you seem to think that everyone else doesnt know about these things.
* wait ... wtf, children are starving??? when did this happen? i thought sally struthers had this under control.

in closing, people continue to be impressed by their own inane outdated observations.

id also like to say that during the downtown dash, both moestradamus and his main squeeze offered to make peace with me. i accepted, even though it was probably just drunk talk.

when you get to my level, people start giving you the power to decide who lives and who dies. stick with it.

First off north side girl. Grow up!! Become a woman, I am a real mother so my 12 year old does not play GTA because the shit in there is too damn explicit for him. Secondly, I know what he was talking about when he said he was just published, I was giving examples. See, that's how little girls respond when they don't understand grown folks' business. And I do leave my house, when I say I don't go anywhere, it's anywhere around this dead ass town. I have been a lot places. Oh, I have even been out of the country. Now, when you grow up and find that grown issues deserve a grown response, we'll talk. Until then, stay out of grown folks' business.

that's right. you can't become an adult until you make the mistake of having children.

Correction: I didn't offer to make peace with you. My "main squeeze" did. And I'm sure she meant it. But, I didn't even talk to you, and frankly, don't care if you like me or not.

And mackey, you've certainly leveled up, big guy! Way to go! Too bad it comes with +∞ douche points.

But go ahead... drop some knowledge on us about this national publication. I'd love to read it.

No, no. Just 2 or 3. Whenever I tried to quit Valley24 back in the hour, I changed my password to a whole bunch of numbers I'd never remember. So I was forced to make a new one in order to come back for some more internet bitch-slapping. Sorry!

No you actually become an adult when your children are not mistakes but were meant to be here. But, I see your mother must've grew up, cause we see her mistake(s) all the time on here. Anyway, let's keep this adult and don't bring my kids in this. I'm a real mother and will bury someone about them. Hey, my grandmother lives in the boonies and I know spots. ;}
Hey, here's an idea: How about all of us who comment and blog have a huge get together where we don't speak to each other, but with our laptops, comment back and forth while we sit next to each other. That way, if one us gets offended we can settle it right then and there by having a dancing knife fight. My grandmother's yard is huge, we could have it there :] Can't you just feel the love in the air? I can, definitely.

Mzvirgoluz,

YOu have to be the most bitter person around, on all your post its nothing but negativity with no valid point whatsoever. I mean if you hate it here so much then leave please, it just gets alittle old after a while, to hear you bashing everything from hip hop to anyone making strides to bettr this area. What are you doing to better things besides complain on this board all day?

Comment not rated

By MzVirgoLuv ( anonymous )

Believe me dear, I am not bitter. I am only here for my kids. When your kids get a better opportunity here than you, you sacrifice your own wants to give them what they need. You must have money, because the only people who love it are the ones with money. And I bash this town because I have seen it at it's best and now it's so at it's worst and I don't see it getting better. I will leave here when my daughter is finished with early college and her first two years of YSU is done. I can't help it all five of my kids are gifted and talented and are getting opportunities to better their lives. They have all decided when they graduate they are leaving this town also. If this town was trying so hard, why then does the population continues to decline? Why is it that we don't even have as many people in this town as we did in 1930. So cooks50, when you have been where I've been and gone through the bull**** of Youngstown that I have, then get at me. Until then, keep your blinders for this town on. It needs suckers like you to keep pouring false hope into it along with your money. I didn't always feel like this until I got older. I'm only in my early 30's but what I have seen here and endured here are like no other. Being that I have traveled a lot of places and have seen towns just likes ours but not like ours, it makes you wonder. How could anyone, but rich or well to do people love a place like this. Just because I don't like everyone, I do love everyone. And cooks50, I love you. Don't you all just love me?
