What I Learned in 2008

I've learned that real friends are always there for you...not just when it's convenient, and even after you've neglected them.

I've learned that bad news can be a blessing in disguise and that learning to roll with the punches makes you a stronger person.

I've learned that infomercials are probably lying.

I've learned that wounds heal quickly, but trust sometimes never does.

I've learned, while inner beauty is true beauty...some people just don't see it.

I've learned that I feel really bad for those people.

I've learned that music is more important to me than almost anything.

I've learned that nature can be rejuvenating.

I've learned that it is ok to be a little bit selfish.

I've learned that EVERYONE online claims to be your soul mate after 3 AM.

I've learned that people are going to talk.

I've learned that I do important work.

I've learned that a lot can happen in an elevator.

I've learned that people will tell you things via text message that they would never say in person.

I've learned that it is better to do one thing really well than it is to do ten things half assed.

I've learned that I have more strength than I ever thought I did.

I've learned that I get my strength from my mother.

I've learned that animals are some of the best people, and some of the best people are animals.

I've learned that possessions do not define me.

I've learned that your family is your true wealth.

I've learned that my family is made up of more than people I'm related to.

I've learned that sometimes you can TOTALLY judge a book by its cover.

I've learned that you can learn a lot from a person's Myspace.

I've learned that you just can't please some people...and it's probably better off that way.

I've learned that trying to do the right thing and actually DOING it are not the same thing.

I've learned that old and young people can both be wise beyond their years.

I've learned that original thought is a hot commodity.

I've learned that wonderful things sometimes come in bizarre packages.

I've learned that I deserve more than I give myself credit for.

I've learned that little flaws make things, and people, beautiful.

I've learned that people who are always miserable...probably like being that way.

I've learned to listen to my instincts.

I've learned that leopards never change their spots.  Also, they have claws.

I've learned that it's a good idea to keep things simple.

I've learned that, although a good performance is its own reward...money is nice too.

I've learned that Jesus and I can probably be friends...but from a distance.

I've FINALLY learned to follow my own advice.

And most importantly, I've learned that the world does not stop for a broken heart. It doesn't even pause. And though you may hate it for not giving you a moment to catch your breath...the truth is, the world is trying to tell you something.  You can't stop. You've got to keep spinning on your axis, and chasing the morning.

Happy New Year, everybody.  Thanks for reading.

Warm wishes and big hugs :O)
