Taft Technology Center

As of May 19, the 6 million dollar Taft Technology Center opened in downtown Youngstown with former Governor Bob Taft as honored guest. The Taft Technology Center is located adjacent to the Youngstown Business Incubator and will house accelerated companies from the YBI program.

However, the brand new Taft Center has a problem. It's already filled to capacity with growing businesses and eager employees.

So, the YBI is forging on, and will shortly begin a 3 million dollar renovation of the Semple Building, next to the Taft Center, to house even more companies. In 2010, on the other side of the YBI, they will renovate the Wells building, and, well, they're not stopping there. Says Chief Evangelist Jim Cossler, "We're not stopping until we are the most recognized software application cluster in the Midwest."

Youngstown will still be shitt!!! No matter what you do with the place except get everyone's friends and family members out and get real people that want to work and would do a way better job. It's just not enough diversity in this town to get anywhere. Hate to be a 'Debbie Downer' but I have been here too long and nothing but names change around here.

Let's see:

Corrupt local government
Corrupt local police
A quite prevalent local mob
Rampant gang violence
A Losing Chevy Center (thanks to a congressman
that's now in jail)
And now a Technology Center dedicated to another crook that was rated the worst governor in history.

Maybe they can work on opening a casino next.

Only in Youngstown.
By the way, what's the current count in murdertown anyway?

um the chevy centre failed because of the management company, global, that the city hired and subsequently replaced. global generally sucked all around at booking and promotion and handling money, which combined with the stupid move to pay huge monthly fees to the parking deck owner to provide free parking in an area where you can generally park for free or for cheap in a number of lots makes for huge losses. prepaying for a giant parking deck when your venue only has two or three events a month is a colossal mistake. it seems as if eric ryan is doing a slightly better job despite having only been a booker for the cellar and other small venues, but herb washington screwing us out of the steelhounds is probably going to kill the place. traficant had nothing to do with how the place was run.

and the mob has generally died out as an organized entity around here because major figures being arrested and the lack of organizational skills that mobsters generally possess. now, its all business owners and contractors, who probably organize in a mob-type fashion and will give rebirth to a new mob in another few years. lou frangos, im looking at you.

if youre going to complain about this, go ask niles why they let the eastwood mall christen 'cafaro field.'

LOL @ Eastwood Mall

but wasn't the Chevy Center making money? I never understood that whole situation. I knew that they made money, but didn't make the money projected they would make. I think every one and their mother thought it was going to lose money. Why screw with something that was sorta successful, just because it didn't reach the success that they said they would reach?

they just released their earnings this quarter, they made a profit of about 100,000. theyre doing better with this eric ryan guy, but its too soon to tell if its a 'too little too late' situation. if the mall can rename the field 'eastwood field' instead of after a family indicted in the traficant trial, the chevy centre can make a turnaround.

$100,000 in a quarter would not even pay the electric bill. I would like to see the earnings versus debt report.

Yes it would seem that the mobs are not as evident now. It's just that they do it differently these days, through politics, by getting family members into office....anyone remember Capri Cafaro???
Now there's a real winner..lost all the valid elections..finally snuck in through the back door. There was this Dann guy too. Keeping everything up to par for Youngstown.

aren't earnings calculated after they go through expenses like electric bills?
