Former Valley24.com blogger and SomethingAwful.com writer Bob Mackey and SomethingAwful.com forum poster Billiam put together a video mocking Youngstown's past. Actually, the video does a good job mocking itself, but this look at Youngstown's "good ol' days" this hilarious. The Youngstown residents describe it as "an MST3K-style mockery." They say to expect more in the future.

I laughed at a few things that these two guys said, but I could easily have watched the clip without their banter.
My Grandfather, a WWI veteran, started working in the mills back in the 1920'a and worked there for 38 years. Back in the 60's, he used to tell me stories about the gunbattles between the Ohio State Militia and the steelworkers / veterans when they were trying to Unionize. Powerful incentives, because before that there were no weekends, no health or unemployment benefits, and if you got hurt, they dragged you outside and brought in a new man.
For you younger people, remember that Youngstown USED to be a powerful thriving MAGNETIC community that drew people to it from all over the world for a chance to better themselves and provide for their families. Scotland, Ireland, Wales, England, Italy, Serbia, Croatia, Romania,Hungary, Greece... It was a MAGNET for hardworking people with dreams of a better life. Wouldn't hurt any of you to understand that. Who moves to Youngstown now?
Not surprising that some older people would be nostalgic for that and forget about all the roughness and corruption.

This mockery is pathetic. I actually watched this video previously without this stupidity and I enjoyed it. I am from youngstown. And i love youngstown even with it's faults. Like stated above, youngstown was once magnetic, and now it doesn't have nearly as much to offer. But I believe in youngstown and try to keep a positive outlook on the future. I suggest more people get serious and start working harder at bettering the community. The men and women who built up this area were hard working people that deserve a lot of respect for their years of service. This mockery is dumb, except for the last comment, " to the t-shirt factory!" That was the only thing that made me laugh.

I enjoy this video and the commentary...the self-deprecating humor is a lots of fun. I have lived in big cities and small, on the West Coast and East, and grew up in Youngstown with family working the mills, open blast and management, and serving in WWII and VN. This video is not only funny but affectionate. More please!
